The show has had several stages of development. Jen and Nicky began their research at the DeGrummond Collection in the University of Southern Mississippi where all the original works of Margret and H.A. Rey are housed. They traveled to Paris to research the Nazi occupation and visit the Rey’s original home. Nicky and Jen were awarded the Margret and H.A. Rey Residency from the Curious George Foundation. This writing residency took place in the actual cottage where The Reys lived in Waterville Valley, NH. The show has been developed at the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals and the Canadian Music Theatre Project at Sheridan College. It was selected for the ASCAP/Stephen Schwartz Workshop with Broadway panelists Stephen Schwartz, Joe DiPietro and Bob Martin. Most recently, the show received a residency at the Interlochen Center For The Arts.
